Job description

– As a Network Automation Engineer (m/f/d), you are responsible for the operation and continuous optimisation of our network infrastructure (core, LAN, WLAN, WAN, VPN).
Transformation & Strategy Whilst our core is currently based on Cisco, you will shape the consistent transformation towards a vendor-agnostic infrastructure and actively minimise hardware dependencies by building your own IaC environment.
Infrastructure as Code (IaC)You establish declarative workflows based on NetBox as a Single Source of Truth (SSoT) as well as Ansible to define, version control and deploy network configurations as code
CI/CD & QualityYou ensure that configuration changes are consistently mapped via CI/CD pipelines and secured by automated pre-change tests (dry runs).
ObservabilityYou are advancing our network observability through streaming telemetry to enable proactive fault detection and create the foundation for future closed-loop automation
Self-Service & APIs: Through the development of REST APIs, you automate the provision of network resources (self-service networking) and eliminate manual error sources.
Cloud & SDN: Ideally, you bring experience in SDN operations with OpenStack Neutron to seamlessly integrate our private cloud networks into the world of automation.
OperationsWith your expertise, you master troubleshooting in complex, code-based environments, manage external service providers and support strategic IT network projects

What you bring with you

– You have a degree in IT/Computer Science, training as an IT specialist (Fachinformatiker:in) or a comparable qualification with relevant professional experience
Network expertise: You have in-depth expertise in the administration of heterogeneous IT environments and are confident in handling network protocols such as OSPF, BGP as well as modern fabric technologies (EVPN/VXLAN).
Automation & CodeYou are experienced in automation with Ansible and have good knowledge of a scripting language (ideally Python). Working with Git (version control) and data structures (YAML/JSON) comes as second nature to you
CI/CD & DevOpsYou already have experience working with CI/CD pipelines and understand how to validate network configurations through automated testing
Security & Cloud: Experience in firewall operations as well as knowledge of cloud network concepts (e.g. SDN/OpenStack) are a major plus
