It is home to five departments, including digital project and portfolio management, IT development, IT operations, global IT services, information security and data protection. We shape GIZ's digital working environment, provide new digital tools, secure mobile working and digital collaboration for our colleagues in over 120 countries worldwide. In short, we drive smooth information technology and accelerate GIZ's internal digital transformation.

As digitalisation progresses, data protection is one of the key issues. The Data Protection Management Group was set up to implement data protection, combining both advisory and policy expertise to ensure GDPR-compliant processing in GIZ's central units and around 1,500 projects worldwide.

Your tasks include

Processing general enquiries about data protection and advising employees, internal departments, country offices and global projects on data protection-related topics and the resulting requirements
Supporting the data processing units within GIZ in the processing of relevant documents and in the preparation and adaptation of legally required data protection documentation
Raising awareness of data protection is another topic on your agenda. Combined with the organisation and implementation of training for employees, both virtually and in person at the respective local country offices
Further development of governance and implementation of data protection and the relevant processes
Assessing security events and incidents for their reportable relevance and supporting the data protection officers in processing data subject enquiries
Assumption of technical responsibility for the IT tool in use for managing the documentation obligations under the GDPR
Close cooperation and communication with other organisational units of the company, identifying synergies and supporting the design of efficient work processes

What you bring with you

Completed studies in the field of law or business law, computer science, business informatics or business administration, certification as a data protection officer is an advantage
Several years of practical experience in operational data protection, experience in the application and implementation of the GDPR, the Telecommunications Digital Services Data Protection Act (TDDDG) and the Federal Data Protection Act
Advanced IT technical knowledge for the assessment and processing of data protection-relevant business transactions
Independent, precise and results-orientated way of working
Ability to implement data protection requirements in a solution-oriented manner
Very good cooperation skills, strong communication skills, collegiality and enjoyment of working in a team
Business fluent in German and English; further language skills are an advantage
