Your tasks include

  • Analysing and extending existing software systems and applications in a heterogeneous, complex IT system environment based on an IBM mainframe architecture 
  • Extending and optimising existing systems and applications using DB2, IMS and CICS
  • Software development with COBOL, SQL, JCL for mainframe software
  • Creating and maintaining complex SQL queries for data retrieval
  • Setting up automated batch processes within frameworks such as TWS / OPC
  • IT project management and stakeholder management
  • Creating and maintaining technical documentation for developed systems and applications  

What you bring with you

  • Completed studies in practical / applied computer science or training as an IT specialist
  • Experience in the mainframe environment with COBOL and in software design as well as tuning options with practical experience in database modelling
  • Practical experience with complex SQL queries as well as database performance analyses and their optimisation
  • Confident handling of database management systems, preferably DB2 and the associated database languages and tools
  • Knowledge of the structures in TWS / OPC for setting up automated batch processes
  • Practical experience in IT project management, e.g. process risk analysis, requirements management, business client communication
  • Good English language skills, knowledge of German and/or French is an advantage
