Engineer operational planning (m/f/d)

In Amprion's operational planning, feed-in forecasts from renewable energy plants, power plants and electricity load forecasts form the basis for daily analyses in the electricity grid. In the event of bottlenecks in the electricity grid, appropriate relief measures are coordinated with the European transmission system operators. Another important element of operational planning is the calculation and evaluation of transmission capacities, which are made available to the European electricity market for cross-border trading. Operational planning thus makes a significant contribution to the daily maintenance of system security in the European interconnected grid.

Job description

In Amprion's operational planning, feed-in forecasts from renewable energy plants, power plants and electricity load forecasts form the basis for daily analyses in the electricity grid. In the event of bottlenecks in the electricity grid, appropriate relief measures are coordinated with the European transmission system operators. Another important element of operational planning is the calculation and evaluation of transmission capacities, which are made available to the European electricity market for cross-border trading. Operational planning thus makes a significant contribution to the daily maintenance of system security in the European interconnected grid.

Your tasks include

  • Application of forecasting processes to determine the feed-in from renewable energies, determination of countermeasures for bottleneck situations and calculation of the trading capacities required for the electricity market
  • Support in analysing tense network situations as well as in analysing weak points in processes and determining necessary ad hoc countermeasures
  • Formulation of requirements for new processes from the user's point of view, implementation of commissioning tests and coordination of training measures in operational planning
  • Assuming responsibility in European cooperation and shaping the further development of the European coordination centres - the so-called Regional Coordination Centres (RCC) - with other transmission system operators

What you bring with you

  • Degree in electrical engineering or industrial engineering, preferably with a specialisation in energy technology or comparable qualification
  • Quick comprehension and resilience, especially in tense and time-critical network situations
  • High sense of responsibility and personal commitment
  • Good communication skills and strong team spirit
  • Interest in project work with other transmission system operators and the Regional Coordination Centres
  • Willingness to work alternating shifts and to travel on business
  • Good written and spoken English skills
