The TU Darmstadt Racing Team e.V. (DART) was founded in 2005 as a recognised non-profit association and has been an official university group at the Technical University of Darmstadt ever since. This makes DART Racing one of the oldest racing teams in the university design competition Formula Student Germany. In the current 2012 season, the team comprises more than 40 students from the departments of electrical engineering, computer science, mechanical engineering and economics, among others. In addition, numerous alumni as well as the Department of Internal Combustion Engines and Vehicle Drives and other institutes of the Technical University of Darmstadt support the work of the organisation.
