We are looking for a full-time position (40 hours/week) at the earliest possible date an AWS Cloud Engineer (m/f/d) for the Sport product cluster in our IT & Digital division in the Technology & Operations department at the Frankfurt am Main location.

The DFB's IT & Digital division comprises the four product clusters "Sport", "Marketing", "Internal Systems" and "Clubs/Associations". The Technology & Operations division is responsible for technical implementation and ongoing operations, providing technical expertise, ensuring the technical infrastructure and smooth processes.

Your tasks include

  • Architecture & Infrastructure: You design and develop a state-of-the-art AWS cloud infrastructure using Terraform (Infrastructure as Code)
  • Data engineering & analytics: Support the optimisation and operation of the data architecture with Databricks, SQL/No-SQL databases and modern data warehouse environments
  • High-Performance Data Processing: Maintain and develop Apache Spark workflows for big data processing
  • CI/CD & DevOps: Implement and manage CI/CD pipelines using Bitbucket, Gitlab or Jenkins
  • Serverless technologies: Use AWS Lambda, S3 and other services to develop scalable architectures
  • Monitoring & optimisation: You keep an overview of the system with CloudWatch, Grafana and Prometheus
  • Cooperation & Support: Work closely together and cross-functionally in a team to design customised cloud solutions and solve integration problems. 
  • Source Control & Package Management: Implement and operate source control with Git and always follow best practice. Manage private package registries such as JFrog or Gitlab Package Registry

What you bring with you

  • Degree in computer science, information technology, mathematics or other similar fields
  • Detailed knowledge and several years of practical experience with at least one cloud service (preferably AWS, ideally validated by cloud-specific certifications)
  • Strong knowledge of Python, HCL, SQL and shell scripting
  • Several years of practical experience in dealing with Infrastructure as Code (IaC), preferably Terraform
  • Hands-on experience in the design of cloud architectures, including serverless and data-centric architectures
  • Basic understanding of database management (NoSQL, SQL, Lakehouse)
  • Expertise in dealing with CI/CD pipeline setup and version control in Git
  • Experience with cost optimisation and governance strategies in the cloud
  • Strong troubleshooting skills to identify and resolve technical issues in cloud environments
  • Hands-on mentality in the creation of technical documentation (e.g. using Markdown)
  • Detailed knowledge of cloud security best practices and compliance
  • Basic knowledge in the context of performance optimisation and scaling in highly available architectures.
  • Motivation to continuously develop the existing cloud infrastructure with innovative solutions
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills in German and English
