The lecture will examine hybrid activities in the run-up to and surrounding armed conflict as a profound challenge for democratic societies, with a particular focus on their impact on armed forces. It will be emphasised that hybrid threats - i.e. targeted, coordinated activities below the threshold of war - are no longer only of a military nature, but are increasingly penetrating civilian security structures. This means that societies as a whole are also being targeted. These threats combine military and non-military means such as cyber attacks, disinformation or the targeted incitement of the population in order to destabilise public institutions. The ambiguity and anonymity of such attacks makes a clear response difficult and jeopardises the ability to act in the event of a crisis. While NATO and the UK emphasise military responses more strongly, the EU and Germany focus on social resilience.

Patricia Hillebrand joined the IT engine room over 25 years ago - not as a token woman, but because she wanted to. She has worked with technology, led teams, hauled servers, pitched business plans, thought about AI, managed large and small projects - and experienced time and again how deep-seated prejudices are in our industry.

In her talk, she takes you on a journey through a cosmos full of personal experiences, clichés and career craters and sheds light on the following questions:

  • What has the emancipation movement actually achieved in IT - apart from bringing us the polarising gender star?
  • Why does the industry talk about diversity and skills shortages, but still employ the same stereotypes?
  • What can parents, daycare centres, schools, universities and companies do to finally establish a modern image of women in the tech industry?
  • Do we need less Barbie and pink tablets and more bits & bytes and role models?

Find out together with Patricia whether Tech needs gender equality officers who pay lip service. Or rather courageous women who no longer hide their light under a bushel, but shine it. For the next generation. And for a diverse tech world that finally throws the stale clichés overboard.

New regulations, constantly changing standards, terms such as "OCPP", "calibration law" or "AFIR": at first glance, modern tech industries - such as e-mobility - seem like a jungle of standards, obligations and complex technology. Of course, the industry is young, dynamic and anything but static. If you want to help shape it, you have to stay agile. Change doesn't happen on its own!

But doesn't the opportunity perhaps outweigh the challenge? The presentation shows why change does not necessarily have to be unsettling - but can also be the key to gaining a foothold in a growing market and helping to shape it.

An invitation to all those with a desire for change - and to a topic that has long had a firm grip on the future of green energy.

With 95% of corporate GenAI pilots failing, the era of broad experimentation is coming to an end. Recent trends and statistics indicate that the path forward lies not in massive, general-purpose adoption at corporate level with unpredictable API costs, but in specialised, agentic AI systems designed to solve a single, critical business pain point. This approach, which favours locally hosted models and expert partnerships over basic or even in-house builds, is proving to be the key to unlocking measurable ROI, making AI more accessible, and building a truly sustainable, reliable and data-safe technology stack.

  1. Valentina C. Kassner says:

This is the second time I have attended ITCS and I believe it is the leading job fair in the IT sector. The event combines the presentation of stands and information with very interesting presentations. These can be watched again afterwards on the YouTube platform. Gender aspects are also covered.

This will be followed by a party, which offers the opportunity to relax and de-stress in a relaxed and natural atmosphere, as well as the chance to make new contacts.

  2. Szymon Wienchol says:

I thought it was really cool, much more informative than I had expected. It was really exciting, even though I was told several times that it was even better last year.

  3. Valentine Mokongo says:

The trade fair was very interesting and innovative. Despite the large number of participants, the organisers were able to process the participant passes within a very short time after the start of the fair. I took part in one of the masterclasses, which was just as inspiring as the other presentations on various panels. To top it all off, the afterparty was very refreshing. I'm already looking forward to next year's ICTS Cologne.
